A Makeup Competition!

Ok! I'm back and ready to roll! While I'm sure a lot of you are looking forward to more polish posts I'm going to start off with a post on the makeup competition I participated in at my cosmetology school on Friday!

First off I've got to say I had SO MUCH FUN! I never thought I'd have as much fun with makeup as I did with nail art so it was quite a surprise to me that I had as much fun as I did. Fantasy makeup is a lot like painting on a canvas really and, even though I haven't had time for that in a while, that is something that I love doing. I also loved the challenge of working with the contours of a face <3

I joined with two other lovely ladies in my class. We came up with a theme and color scheme last week and Monday we went on a search for the makeup that we still needed. We met with mixed results as the only place we could find with any Halloween supplies was an iParty store. Usually I'm complaining that stores are putting Halloween items out in August! Whatever. We worked with what we had.

Here is our lovely model as we were getting started with the makeup application:

You want to see the purpose of that circle? Well keep scrolling!

Can you guess what the circle is? If you said pocket watch then give yourself a pat on the back! Our theme was the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. And here is the finished look:

Here are the other lovely models from my pre-salon class:

Wow! We had some great competition! But that's not all! We also had to compete against a second pre-salon class! Here are all of the competitors lined up together:

There are some great entries here but there were only three that would be named the winners. There was a first place and two entries tied for second. Who were they?

The four on the left were the teams tied for second place. The four on the right are the winning team. Congratulations ladies! Am I sad that my team didn't win? A little, but at the end of the day all that matters is that we had a ton of fun!

And as my group decided, our entry was just too artistically advanced for our judges to relate to :P
